Statistical principles, applications, and analysis are introduced. Topics include descriptive statistics, probability, sampling procedures, estimation methods, confidence intervals, tests of significance, chisquare tests, regression and correlation, and analysis of variance. Computer programming knowledge is not required. Excel and Minitab may be used by the students. Prerequisite: Secondary school mathematics.

This course is an introduction to fundamental concepts of statistics. Topics include descriptive statistics, probability theory, basic concepts of statistical inference, sampling theory, regression and correlation methods, and analysis of variance. Applications to biological and medical research are discussed, but no knowledge of biology is required.
