ENSC S-160 Mobile Robot and Embedded Programming (31913)
(Website) (Print version)
Robert Irie
(4 credits: UN, GR) T,Th 3:30-6 pm, 1 Story Street, Room 303. Eight-week session. Required sections to be arranged. Tuition $2,275. Limited enrollment.

Advances in electronics and embedded engineering have enabled the design, construction, and programming of nontrivial mobile robots from ready-made kits and practically from scratch. This course introduces students to the basics of robotics, including mechanical, hardware, and software concepts, and allows them to build a working mobile robot and program it to perform simple behaviors. This course is extensively hands-on, involving basic sensor and microcontroller circuits and embedded programming. There is a final group project involving competitive, multiple-robot events. Prerequisites: Experience with at least one computer programming language or some basic electronics exposure; ability to work in a team.
