Academics
Secondary school students choose from among the nearly 200 Harvard Summer School courses in 45 liberal arts fields. They enroll in two concurrent 4-unit courses or one 8-unit course for a letter grade. Four-unit courses meet daily for an hour or twice weekly for 2.5 hours; 8-unit courses meet 2 or more hours each day. Many courses are taught by Harvard faculty who teach such courses to Harvard undergraduates during the fall and winter terms. Credits earned are recorded on an official Harvard transcript and are transferable toward a future undergraduate degree at most colleges and universities. Secondary school students who live with relatives in the Boston area and apply as commuters may enroll for either 4 or 8 units of credit for a letter grade.
